Bassjump is a subwoofer designed to enhance your built in Macbook speakers by providing mid and low frequencies. It is designed to be small and portable. It is also decidedly designed to combat the clutter one finds in other solutions (whereby, they mean the wires and cables of a traditional computer speaker set). As one who loved the simplicity and sound of my original design iMac and iSub solution, this looks like the next logical progression for a current day setup.

My Basejump arrived last week, and to my disappointment, does not work when combined with another USB speaker (as in the ones in my Apple LED Cinema Display). With that said, it is a wonderfully designed product, both a hardware and software, and I will likely keep it for travel and use with my 13” MacBook Pro.

Dragon's Lair for the iPhone

The classic laserdisc video game Dragon’s Lair has made its way to the App Store this evening. Originally released to the arcade in 1983, this full motion animated game was a massive departure from the other games of the era… Former Disney animator Don Bluth created the animation for the game which was a series of laserdisc movie sequences with user controlled branch points that allowed the game to continue… At $4.99, it represents the equivalent of 10 plays of the original $.50 arcade game.

I, as many other children of the ’80s, poured coffers of quarters into Dragon’s Lair arcade consoles. It warms my heart to see this available for the iPhone; no laserdisc, or quarters required.

Minimal Mac Holiday Gift Guide 2009

minimalmac:

Tis the season I guess. Therefore, not to be left out, here is the official Minimal Mac Holiday Gift Guide for 2009. In order to keep it simple, I have limited it to the top five must have gadgets and accessories for every Mac lover in your life. That said, these should also appeal to any PC user as well. They are even great for those who don’t have computers at all.

I mean, seriously folks, if you are not willing to break the bank a little on these fantastic items that you AND your loved ones absolutely need, then you really should question what this season of GIVING really means to you.

OK, enough grandstanding, here is what you have been waiting for. Buy these and stick them in every stocking today!

I tried to pick carefully to make sure that at least two of these would appeal to everyone. But, why stop there? Get all five and give the rest away as hostess gifts.

Please note, these are all affiliate links unless where otherwise noted. The payback isn’t generous but, hey, I ain’t doing this for love folks.

Dear Patrick,

I’ll take two of each recommended item. Honestly, I don’t know how my family and I have used our Macs without these vital extras.

Cheers. -Eric

SmugMug Corner #57: Bill Lloyd

I liked photography and had people telling me I took great photographs (aren’t supportive friends and relatives wonderful), but I started to believe it when I went to a workshop and settled down and focused specifically on photography.

Get out and shoot, and follow your passion. Oh, and get a tripod. Always get a tripod. :)

A fantastic interview with Bill with examples of the beauty he captures through the lens. He is an inspiring photographer.
